William Aley has been playing with clay
for over 30 years. It began as a hobby
while he was active-duty Navy stationed
at Moffett Field, CA.
While at CalPoly - SLO, working on his
Bachelors of Science Degree,
he took a minor in Fine Arts.
Now that he has retired from the
Federal Government, he has time to sit in
the Pottery Studio and think of pi

Now that he has retired from the
Federal Government, he has time to sit in
the Pottery Studio and think of pieces he’d
like to make. From the whimsical creatures
in his mind, to his goal of creating the perfect teapot. He never knows what will be the
finished product once the ball of clay
starts on the wheel.

The pieces are glazed and high-fired in
a natural gas kiln up to cone 10/11 (2380 F) . Utilizing North Carolina sourced Wild Clays; ranging from finished textures of fine porcelain
to highly textural stoneware. The pieces are
wheel thrown, hand and slab built.

lead-free and food, dishwasher, and
microwave/oven safe.

in Washington, NC.
